Let's Talk Hydration

Because sometimes your skin isn't asking for another product. It is asking for a little more love.

01 / Barrier Health

What does hydrated skin actually mean?

When we talk about hydrated skin, we are really talking about water. Your skin needs water to feel soft, smooth and comfortable. When it is nicely hydrated, your skin tends to have that lovely plump, fresh feeling.

When it is lacking water, you notice that tight feeling after washing. It is not only about putting water into your skin, it is also about stopping it from escaping. Because your skin is constantly losing water.

02 / Defense System

Your skin has its own protection system

Your skin barrier is basically your skin's built-in security system. One of its jobs is to keep the good stuff in - including water - and keep the things your skin doesn't want out. When your barrier is happy, your skin feels happy too. Soft. Comfortable. Calm.

When your barrier gets a little stressed, everything changes. You might feel tight after cleansing. Your skin might become flaky or rough. You might feel like no matter how much moisturizer you apply, it just isn't enough. Your skin may not be asking for more products. It may be asking you to slow down and protect the barrier.

03 / Daily Stressors

What is making your skin so thirsty?

Think about your morning: hot showers, cleansing, exfoliation, stepping into cold air or air conditioning. Your skin is doing a lot of work every single day.

Over-exfoliation

I know. There is nothing better than a hot shower. But your skin would probably prefer something a little less steamy. Very hot water can wash away some of the natural oils that help keep your skin comfortable.

If your cleanser leaves your face feeling tight afterwards, that is your skin telling you something. Clean is good; stripped isn't.

Cold air, wind, heat, dry indoor air, and air conditioning — your skin notices all of it.

This one is easy to fall into. You see beautiful, glowing skin and think, maybe I need to exfoliate a little more. And then a little more becomes a little too much. Sometimes glowing skin comes from simply leaving your skin alone.
